Installation of Double-Walled Fuel Storage Tanks – Phase 2 – Public Comments Invited

June 18, 2026 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Installation of Double-Walled Fuel Storage Tanks – Phase 2, project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

This project involves the installation of three, 75,000 litres new double-walled diesel storage tanks within the existing tank farm site. Tanks will be shop fabricated in line with applicable regulations and standards for fuel storage. The initiative is being undertaken to address an immediate and critical need for reliable fuel supply in preparation for the upcoming winter season, ensuring uninterrupted operation of the power plant during peak demand periods. 

Scope of Work Includes:

  • Site preparation
  • Delivery and installation of double-walled storage tanks at the existing Tank Farm Site within the existing berm. 
  • Testing and commissioning of the new tanks 
  • Tank Registration with the Federal Identification Registry for Storage Tank Systems (FIRSTS)
