I Oppose the Beacon AI Centers Indus Project.

I strongly oppose the Beacon AI Centers Indus Project. I oppose its construction and I oppose its very concept. Calgary's water supplies are unstable and at the present moment, we're under an order to conserve water; the construction of a data centre, especially one used for generative AI, would put immense strain on an already inadequate water system. Alberta's climate, including in the Calgary area, is getting drier, and a data centre would contribute to that. The impacts of a data centre on local climate and infrastructure would put more strain on farmers, and with the opposition to oil and gas from climate activists (and climate activism has been gaining ground due to the damages that LLMs cause), Alberta's economy cannot afford to knock out a supporting pillar. Do not proceed with this project.
