Upgrade (Multiple) Towers

Keewaytinook Okimakanak is proposing the addition of (3) 0.6m antennae, in the 5 GHz frequency band, mounted near the top of (2) existing 18m and 28m towers which are located on Cat Lake First Nation and Kasabonika First Nations. The antenna will be installed to improve network access to high-speed internet. In the future, the existing tower may have other antennas and other radiocommunication equipment added or replaced.

New Fibre Installation

Keewaytinook Okimakanak plans to install fiber optic cabling, for Internet purposes, as backbone to serve residential homes in the Pikangikum First Nation. The project involves the installation of approximately 2km of aerial fiber optic cable from the Pikangikum fibre cabinet (11.6) near the airport to the Pikangikum Point of Presence (11.1).

The cable is to be attached to existing support structures such as utility/telephone poles that parallel existing roadways. Support structures may require structural improvements to support cable attachments.
