Saulteau First Nation Sewage Collection, Treatment and Disposal System

Saulteau First Nation is planning to construct a sewage collection, treatment, and disposal system for the Lakeview and Riverside subdivisions on IR 169. The collection system will tie into existing septic tanks and convey sewage from each individial subdivision home to a centralized community treatment system. The existing septic tanks will capture solids and provide pretreatment. The centralized treatment system will include a spiral headworks screen, two aerated lagoons in series, a UV disinfection system. The treated effluent will then be discharge to a natual wetland also on IR169. The BC Ministry of Environment is anticipated to regulate the discharge to the receiving environmental. There is anticipated to be ongoing environmental monitoring requirements for the duration of the operating life.
