ATCO Gas and Pipelines Ltd.: 1088866 Bigstone Cree Nation & Hamlet of Sandy Lake Gas Feeder and Mains at Wabasca IR No. 166

ATCO Gas and Pipelines Ltd. proposes to expand its natural gas main and feeder lines at Bigstone Cree Nation's lands at Wabasca IR No. 166. New infrastructure will include the installation of 3.7km of 60mm polyethylene gas main, 35 service connections each consisting of 26mm polyethylene gas pipe, and one commercial service connection consisting of 42mm polyethylene gas pipe. Gas line will be installed by a combination of trenchless horizontal drilling and line trenching, and will take place primarily alongside previously disturbed roadways. A biophysical assessment of the project area and surrounding lands identified a variety of valued ecosystems components including wetlands, watercourses, wildlife habitats, and active nesting zones. Project planning has included the development of environmental management plans to avoid and mitigate negative environmental impacts, and to monitor construction activities in accordance with plans approved by Bigstone Cree Nation.
