ATCO Gas and Pipelines: 1091764 North Janvier Natural Gas Delivery Pipeline Upgrade Project

ATCO Gas and Pipelines is proposing to increase its natural gas delivery capacity to Chipewyan Prairie First Nation's reserve lands at Janvier IR No. 194 to meet increased demand for natural gas associated with the growth of the community. To meet increased demand, ATCO intends to abandon approximately 1800m of existing 42/48mm gas main and install a larger diameter 60mm polyethylene line in its place. Installation will be completed through a combination of methods including mechanical excavation, open trenching, and horizontal directional drilling. Daylighting of existing utilities and bell-holes will be completed using hydrovac equipment. ATCO completed a desktop biophysical assessment of the project area and identified management considerations for wetlands, key wildlife biodiversity zones, and wildlife. Environmental management and mitigation measures are proposed as appropriate.
